A rating is an estimate of team strength based on recorded results. Every team starts at 1,500. A win against a higher-rated opponent earns more than an expected win.
One cohort. One permanent rating.
A squad keeps its rating as it moves up each season: a 2025–26 U9 becomes a 2026–27 U10, and a U10 becomes a U11. Boys and Girls remain separate; Boys includes records previously labelled Mixed. County and regional tables simply filter the national table.
The global club power ranking
The power ranking combines breadth and strength across every age group. A club receives 1,500 coverage points for its first team, 750 for its second, 375 for its third, and half as many for each team after that. Each team then adds or subtracts its current rating difference from 1,500. The All, Boys/Men and Girls/Women views recalculate the full score for the selected teams, so a club’s second Girls team receives 750 points in the Girls/Women view even if it is its fifth team overall.
Teams with no rated result still count toward breadth, but their normal inactivity penalties reduce their rating—and therefore the club score—over time. Those penalties are not deducted a second time. A squad carried between seasons is counted once through its permanent lineage.
Activity matters
From January 2026, each completed calendar month without a recorded game creates a visible rating event: 10 points for the first inactive month, 20 for the second and 30 for the third. A month containing a recorded game resets the streak. August is always exempt, and adding a legitimate result later automatically replays the timeline and removes penalties that no longer apply.
Confidence matters
Organiser-published and mutually confirmed results receive full weight. One-sided reports receive reduced weight. Disputed or rejected results have no active effect.
Playing up earns protection
The normal points change is calculated first. A squad one year below the tournament division gains 30% more after a positive result and loses 30% less after a negative result. Two or more years below uses 50%. For example, a normal +20 becomes +26 for a U9 squad in a U10 event, while a normal −10 becomes −7. The age adjustment only applies when the club representative confirms that no players from the tournament age group represented that squad.
Girls in Boys tournaments
A Girls squad in a Boys youth event receives a further 30% participant adjustment. The percentages add rather than compound: U9 Girls in a U10 Boys event receive 60%, so a normal +20 becomes +32 and a normal −10 becomes −4. Only that squad’s points are adjusted; its opponent receives the normal change.
Room to find your level
New teams move faster: the first 10 rated matches use a factor of 48, the next 20 use 36, and established teams use 28. Both teams’ changes use the same pre-match ratings and their own experience factor.
A modest field adjustment
At least four previously rated entrants are needed. Pre-event entrant ratings are compared with the same national pool; the adjustment stays between 0.95× and 1.10×.
No score-chasing. No paid advantage.
Goal margin does not increase rating rewards. Subscription status never affects rating weight. Corrections replay the result ledger; nobody can type a new team rating.
